of the Preseason WNIT, the Redbirds moved to the third-round consolation

Sunday's game will mark the eighth meeting between Illinois State
and Memphis. The Tigers hold a 6-1 advantage, but the Redbirds won
the most recent game, on Feb. 7, 1980, by a score of 72-58, in
Memphis, Tenn. In the 2012 Preseason WNIT, the Tigers defeated
Grambling State 92-42 before falling to Middle Tennessee 82-68.
Memphis ended the 2011-12 season with a 25-8 mark and a 13-3
Conference USA record, finishing second in the conference. Like the
Redbirds, the Tigers made it to the second round of the Postseason
WNIT. They return two starters and six letter winners from last
year's team.
