IDOT, law enforcement launch new statewide campaign, boost safety efforts for Thanksgiving travel

[November 21, 2012]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies teamed up Tuesday morning to announce a new campaign and boost safety efforts through the Thanksgiving holiday. The organizations also unveiled traffic safety statistics, compelling messages to motorists and detailed the consequences of dangerous driving behavior.

Officials involved were Dan Kent, law enforcement liaison supervisor for the IDOT Division of Traffic Safety; an Illinois State Police representative; Sgt. Chuck Kean, of the Springfield Police Department; and Chief Deputy Jack Campbell, of the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office.

The event was at the Springfield Police Department Emergency Operations Center.
