SPRINGFIELD -- What could be
better than launching the holiday season with beautiful music and
scrumptious food? The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency is
providing both at a madrigal dinner Saturday evening at the Vachel
Lindsay Home Historic Site.

The Lincoln Land Community College Madrigal Singers will perform "A
Christmas Madrigal -- Past and Present" at the Lindsay home, while
Real Cuisine and chef Ashley Glatz will provide the meal. The
performance of choral music, directed by Sue Hamilton, includes both
Renaissance and contemporary madrigals. It is co-sponsored by the
Vachel Lindsay Association.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets were $50 by advance purchase at Tinsley Dry Goods on
Sixth Street, near the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, or by sending a
check to the Vachel Lindsay Association, P.O. Box 9356, Springfield,
IL 62791-9356. The reservation deadline was last week. For more

The
Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site at 603 S. Fifth
St. in Springfield, is the birthplace and longtime residence of
poet, author and artist Nicholas Vachel Lindsay, 1879-1931. It is
open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for free public
tours.
