[September 30, 2012]  MOUNT ZION -- The LCHS Marching Band won second place at the Mount Zion competition on Saturday.

Lincoln was in Class AAA with Monticello and Mattoon. Monticello won first, Lincoln second and Mattoon third in the field competition.

Lincoln also won best percussion award, with no drum line.

"So either they gave us credit based on the pit, or they gave us more credit that we kept tempo without a drummer," said Devin Biggs. "Our band director was surprised that we won that too. I heard we won it by a lot of points."

Lincoln's next competition is Saturday, Oct. 6.
