LC coach Mark Tippett commented: "I was extremely pleased with
the defensive intensity we brought to the court (Wednesday night). Our
blockers were strong at the net and we looked very sharp in the back
row. We were able to consistently pass the ball on target, which
gave our setter plenty of options, and that meant trouble for
Danville because our hitters were very aggressive tonight. Overall,
I would have to say this was our best-played match of the season. We
have figured out how to work as a team, which is what it takes to
win at this level."

PALOS HILLS -- On Saturday the Lincoln College volleyball team
participated in a triangular set of matches at Moraine Valley
Community College.
LC opened up the event with a match against Joliet Junior
College. Lincoln played strong defensively and used a balanced
offensive attack to defeat JJC in three sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-22.
In the second match, the Lady Lynx got off to a rough start
against the undefeated and No. 4 nationally ranked Moraine Valley
Cyclones, losing the first set 25-12. In sets two and three, Lincoln
(10-9) was able to rally and hang with MVCC most of the way, but
eventually fell in both sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-18.

LC coach Mark Tippett commented: "(Saturday's) matches
illustrated pretty well where we fit into the volleyball scene at
this point in the season. We have the talent to dominate a match
against a quality opponent like Joliet, and, while we may not be
ready to defeat a top 10 team like MVCC, we can certainly hang with
them. JJC had good athletes and they attacked the ball well, but our
defense has improved greatly this season and we were able to wear
them down in each set and eventually take charge. This is a big
improvement over where we were a couple weeks ago when we were
finding ways to lose to teams like Joliet or having to struggle
against our own mistakes to get the win.
"However, the Moraine Valley match showed we have a lot of work
to do in order to challenge the top teams in the nation. The good
news is that we had flashes of real brilliance in that match. There
were several points where we took their best shots and turned them
into transition swings for our offense. The difference was that we
just made too many unforced errors, passing mistakes and
communication errors, while they played a much cleaner game.
"I am confident that if we continue to improve at the pace we
have thus far, by the end of the season we will be in a position to
do better than just keep the scores close with the best teams in the
nation."
Lincoln College plays next on Wednesday evening at Lincoln Land
Community College.
