Monday morning the Lincoln Fire Department kicked off  Fire Safety Month by inviting the third-grade classes from Chester-East Lincoln to come to the station for breakfast and a morning of fun and learning.

There are approximately 30 kids in the two classes. They all piled into the station at about 8:30 Monday morning to enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast.

After breakfast the kids were divided into groups and participated in a variety of learning activities.

Claude VanFossan was the chef for the day, delivering some really good pancakes. Also served were link sausages, orange juice, milk, and coffee for the grown-ups

Fire Chief Mark Miller chats with teacher Brenda Bartley as they watch VanFossan flip pancakes.

One of the fire truck bays served as the dining room for breakfast.

Everywhere around the room, kids were "chowing down" on pancakes.

This young fella thought he could eat pancakes all day, they were so good.

Inspector Tim Aper offers a little help with the knife and fork.
