MOUNT PULASKI -- Eugene Paul "Bud"
Collins, 88, of Mount Pulaski died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at 12:27
p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Mt. Pulaski- Eugene Paul "Bud" Collins, 88, of Mt.
Pulaski passed away at 12:27 P.M. on October 2, 2012
at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Eugene was born on June 17, 1924 in Decatur to
Alexis B. and Anna Stroyeck Collins. He was united
in marriage to Norma Duncan on October 7, 1944 in
Decatur. She survives in Mt. Pulaski. Other
survivors include his daughter: Paula (John) Metzger
of Decatur; son: David Collins of Mt. Pulaski; 4
grandchildren: John (Sandie) Hoots of Liberty, S.C.;
Tony (Jill) Hoots of Hanford, CA; Craig Metzger of
Elk River, MN; Cara (Greg) Bobbitt of Savannah, GA;
8 great grandchildren; and sister: Verna Russell.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and one
infant son Eugene.

Eugene helped start the Easterling Optical Company.
He loved traveling with his step brother and sister
in law Jim and Verla. Eugene was proud of his 42 ½
years working at A. E. Staley Mfg. After retiring,
he helped his son start Bright Ideas Screen Printing
in Lincoln.
Eugene loved his Staley League bowling at the
Eldorado Bowl. He loved camping and was a great
golfer. He shared his love for the sport by teaching
many others to golf. He was also a big U of I
Basketball fan.
Eugene was a wonderful father, grandfather, and
husband and he will be greatly missed! God needed
another angel and He only takes the best.
Services for Eugene will be held at Camp Wilson
Foursquare Church in Harristown, IL, at Noon on
Saturday, October 6 with Rev. Brian Canaday
officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-Noon
prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be
made to the Mt. Pulaski EMS.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
