In the first match of the day, Lincoln faced Region 24 opponent
Southwestern Illinois College. SWIC looked strong early, taking the
first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-17. However, in set three
the Lady Lynx started playing with more purpose and fought their way
back into the match, winning 25-23, and then won again 25-23 in set
four. With the momentum on their side, the Lady Lynx cruised to a
15-8 win in set five. In later action, Lincoln faced Oakton
Community College, a team LC lost to in three sets on the opening
weekend of the season. This time, however, LC would come out on top
with a four-set win: 26-24, 18-25, 25-15, 25-18.
With the victories, Lincoln improves to 12-10 on the year.

LC coach Mark Tippett commented:
"I don't think many people who saw the start of the SWIC match
would have given us much of a chance to win it. We came out flat,
slow and playing sloppy volleyball in the first two sets. Somewhere
in set three, though, things turned around and we started siding out
effectively, which gave us a chance to get back in the match. By the
middle of set four, we had regained our confidence and were able to
dominate them in set five. Pretty amazing stuff, but it points out
once again what a factor momentum can be and that this game is
designed for momentum swings.
"The Oakton match was an enjoyable win as well, due to the fact
that we lost to OCC earlier in the season. This is a good indicator
that we are improving as the season goes on and that just because we
lost to a team once, does not mean we can't get them the second time
around.
"Overall, it was a great day for LC and one that our players
should feel proud of."
Lincoln College will host two home matches this week. On Tuesday
evening they will take on Illinois Central College in another
significant Region 24 match, and on Thursday they will play Carl
Sandburg College.
