Lincoln Fire Department reports

[October 11, 2012]  Lincoln Fire Department fire and rescue reports for Thursday, Oct. 11:

Oct. 6

On Oct. 6 at 5:11 a.m., the Lincoln Fire Department responded to a fire at 702 Oglesby Ave. Firefighters found that a single-story house was showing heavy fire conditions from the north side.

The arriving firefighters quickly entered the house and extinguished the fire with a 1 3/4-inch hose line. They were assisted by firefighters from Lincoln Rural, Atlanta and Mount Pulaski.

The fire did extensive damage to the home, estimated to be around $150,000.

A family of three lived in the house, along with two dogs. Everyone was home at the time of the fire, and they all escaped safely thanks to the smoke detectors. The family was able to grab the two dogs while exiting. No one was injured during the fire. The American Red Cross offered assistance to the family.

The cause of the fire is officially listed as undetermined at this time, but it appears to be accidental.

• 9:59 a.m. -- Call to the 900 block of South College was dispatched and canceled en route.

• 4:35 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 600 block of Pulaski Street.

• 4:56 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 300 block of Wyatt Avenue.

• 9:51 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to Broadway Street.
