[October 17, 2012]  One hundred six members attended the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary annual fall meeting on Monday at the American Legion in Lincoln.

The ALMH Auxiliary is a membership organization that provides volunteer services and raises funds for the hospital. Funds are used to support ALMH community events and enhance patient experience at the hospital. There are currently 132 members.

The luncheon speaker was Ronda Dudley, director of home health and hospice with Memorial Home Services, an affiliate of Memorial Health System. She highlighted the activities of hospice and the importance of volunteerism. Dolan Dalpoas, ALMH CEO, also addressed the ALMH Auxiliary members and expressed his gratitude for their support of the hospital.

"The ALMH Auxiliary has been a thriving organization dedicated to supporting the mission of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital since 1951, when it was first formed," said Dalpoas. "During the most recent fiscal year their passion for the hospital and the community we serve was on full display. The ALMH Auxiliary provided continued support of our annual Service of Remembrance and our first Baby Reunion held in June. Recently, they purchased a $5,000 blanket warmer that is used for diagnostic patients and 75 new chairs that have already been used for seminars and hospital events."

Operating under the umbrella of the Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation, the ALMH Auxiliary is led by a volunteer board of directors. Mary Rose Moorehead is currently serving as the president of the ALMH Auxiliary. Deb Short is vice president and Jeanette Johnson is the current secretary-treasurer. These executive board members are not only members of the organization, they also volunteer at the hospital, as do many ALMH Auxiliary members.

At the fall meeting Moorehead recognized departing board members Sandy Hollenbeck and Mary Lou Klokkenga and presented them gifts for their work as board members.

The organization has many activities planned for 2013, including a collaboration with the hospital and the Healthy Communities Partnership to provide a community education event this spring.
