Saturday the St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln hosted its annual Germanfest.

The hugely popular local event kept the St. John Fellowship Hall filled to capacity most of the day with happy eaters.

Folks came for the food and stayed for the entertainment. The Alley Kats Band provided great dance music.

It takes a ton of church volunteers to put on a dinner. Folks were needed to take tickets at the door.

Others were needed to keep the serving line well stocked with food to serve.

Folks were needed to fill plates as diners passed through the line.

Others manned the drink station, and someone was needed continually to keep laying out tasty desserts.

In the kitchen, volunteers performed a variety of duties, like dishing up applesauce.

There were mounds of German potato salad, red cabbage and sauerkraut that needed to be watched over ...

... and dozens of loaves of bread that were cut into buns for the brats and hot dogs.
