Lady Eagles win 3rd place at Logan County tournament

[October 24, 2012]  The Zion Lutheran Lady Eagles seventh-grade basketball team won third place in the seventh-grade tournament of the Logan County Athletic and Music Association by defeating the host Chester-East Lincoln Panthers by the score of 38-6.

All seven team members scored for the Eagles in the third-place game. Katie Hunsley led all scorers with 13 points. Also scoring for the Lady Eagles were Gabbie Cox with eight, Lane Prather with six, Lauren Canady with five, Tori Tripplett with four, and Madeline Koehler and Grace Montgomery with one point each.

The Lady Eagles defeated the Carroll Catholic-New Holland-Middletown team in the first round by the score of 24-18. Tori Tripplett led the scoring with eight points, followed by Gabbie Cox and Lane Prather with five each, Katie Hunsley with four, and Lauren Canady with two points.

Zion played eventual tournament champion West Lincoln-Broadwell in the second round. The Wolverines defeated Zion 40-22. Scoring leaders for the Lady Eagles were Katie Hunsley with nine and Tori Tripplett with eight. Also scoring for the Lady Eagles were Lauren Canady and Lane Prather with two each and Gabbie Cox with one.

The seventh-grade Lady Eagles now have a record of 2-1.
