Dickson Mounds Museum to feature Saturday afternoon movie, 'Our Town'

[September 05, 2012]  LEWISTOWN -- As part of the Spoon River Reads project, Dickson Mounds Museum is hosting a "Movie Afternoon" Saturday featuring "Our Town," a 1940 film adaptation Thornton Wilder's 1937 three-act play. The movie will begin at 2 p.m. in the museum's auditorium.

Directed by Sam Wood, "Our Town" stars William Holden and Martha Scott and received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Black & White Art Direction, Best Original Score and Score, and Best Sound Recording.

Admission is free. Light refreshments will be provided during the movie.

This program is a collaborative effort between Dickson Mounds Museum, the Fulton County Arts Council and the Spoon River Reads project. The Fulton County Arts Council is partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

The Illinois State Museums -- Dickson Mounds is located between Lewistown and Havana, off Illinois Routes 78 and 97. The museum is open free to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
