Memorial to host free seminar on joint replacement surgery

[September 07, 2012]  SPRINGFIELD -- A free seminar on joint replacement surgery will be presented Monday at 6 p.m. in the Wedeberg Conference Center at Memorial Medical Center. The event is open to the public.

Nearly 800,000 total hip and knee replacement surgeries are being performed in the United States annually. During the 90-minute session on "Advances in Joint Replacement Surgery: A Team Approach," area physicians will discuss opportunities for patients, physicians and hospitals to partner on key aspects of joint replacement surgery to enhance clinical outcomes. Topics include anesthesia and pain management, innovations in total hip and knee replacement surgery, and the importance of a defined plan of care.

The participating physicians are Drs. Dan Adair, Springfield Clinic; Leo Ludwig, Orthopedic Center of Illinois; Khaled Saleh, SIU HealthCare; and Scott Sattovia, Associated Anesthesiologists of Springfield.

Light refreshments will be served.

The event will conclude at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial Medical Center is at 701 N. First St. in Springfield. The Wedeberg Conference Center is on the hospital's lower level, near its main entrance. Free parking is available in the hospital's visitor parking lots across from the main entrance at Miller and First streets.
