Property owner enters rezoning process that could bring new rock quarry

On Wednesday evening, a request to change zoning was heard by two groups: the Logan County Board's planning and zoning committee and the Logan County Regional Planning Commission. The property discussed belongs to the Doug Muck family and is now a special district, agricultural-use land located along Salt Creek west of Lincoln.

The regional planning commission heard and saw various exhibits for and against the project. Included were geological and water source maps. The area is over an aquifer.

 

 

Thursday evening, the Logan County Zoning Board of Appeals conducted a public hearing on the matter.

 

Approximately 80 interested people attended that meeting, overfilling the Broadwell Township garage.

 

 

Some who attended were there to say they were for the jobs and product the rock quarry would provide. Some living near the proposed site had serious concerns. Others just wanted to know more about the project's potential impact.
