Jerry R. Newberry, 70, of Lincoln died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at
8:35 p.m. at his home.

Lincoln: Jerry R. Newberry, 70, of Lincoln died at
8:35 P.M. Saturday September 8, 2012 at his
residence.
Jerry was born May 8, 1942 in Lincoln to Ralph
Arthur and Clara Helena Sloan Newberry. He married
Brenda G. Shelton on April 1, 1961 in Pensacola,
Florida. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2006.
He retired as an owner and operator of Newberry
Automotive in Lincoln (1979-1999) and then went to
his dream job at Monticello Bus Service as a driver.
He was a member of the Elkhart Christian Church and
served in the United States Navy as a fireman on the
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier.

Jerry is survived by one daughter Beverly (Michael)
Brown, one son Rick (Tracy) Newberry, one brother Larry (Doody)
Newberry all of Lincoln, eight grandchildren and five great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and
one sister Sandra K. Weakley.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday September 12, 2012
at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln with
Bob Twist officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00
P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The family will
have a private family burial at a later date. Memorials may
be made to Hospice of Central Illinois, Springfield, IL.
