LCU volleyball at Illinois Wesleyan tournament

[September 11, 2012]  The Lincoln Christian University women's volleyball team participated in a tournament at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington over the weekend. The Red Lions of LCU began the tournament on Friday by defeating both Fontbonne University (3-1) and Illinois College (3-1). LCU then fell to Monmouth College (1-3) and Illinois Wesleyan (0-3) on Saturday.

Senior Krystine Schnautz and sophomore Alicia Carson led the way for the Red Lions by pounding out 72 of the team's 108 kills in the first two matches. Sophomore Emma Donnelly provided the Red Lions 68 of the team's digs on Friday. As a team, LCU manufactured a season-high 13 blocks against Illinois College.

The Red Lions started the weekend ranked No. 5 in the NCCAA Division II.

LCU (4-4) will have their first home match of the season when they take on Benedictine University-Springfield, at 7 tonight (Tuesday) in the Laughlin Center.
