The dresses were flowing and the men dapper as the 42nd Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Festival got under way with a grand Civil War Ball on Friday evening. Couples learned a few new dances and enjoyed an evening of fun at the Lincoln Park District Rec Center.

Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Logan County Fairgrounds, families will find plenty more fun with bluegrass jams, numerous displays of the pioneer way of life and working crafts, the Route 66 Antique Car Show, food, crafts, flea market and antique vendors.

On Saturday, the highlight of the day is the opening of the railsplitting competition.

Late afternoon at 5 features a who-done-it play followed by an old-fashioned barn dance for all beginning at 7 p.m.
