Incident: Two-vehicle crash involving a fatality

43-year-old male, deceased (name withheld pending notification
of next of kin), Hartsburg

40-year-old female with life-threatening injuries (name withheld
pending notification of next of kin), Palmyra

Narrative: On Friday at approximately 8:38 p.m., Unit 1, a
white Chevrolet truck, was traveling southbound on Old Route 121,
nearing the intersection with Lincoln Parkway. Unit 2, a red
Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was traveling northbound, nearing the
same intersection. Unit 1 initiated a left turn onto Lincoln Parkway
in front of Unit 2. The driver of Unit 2 was unable to avoid a
collision and struck the passenger side of Unit 1.

The driver of Unit 2 was pronounced dead on the scene by the
Logan County coroner's office. The Unit 2 passenger was transported
to Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The Unit
1 driver was transported to Memorial Medical Center with
non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State
Police.
