Saturday morning Geoff Ladd of the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County, Darlene Begolka of the Logan Railsplitting Association, Mayor Keith Snyder and Paresh Patel, owner of the Best Western, joined Gene Hickey and members of the Logan County Mounted Police in dedicating new benches at the site of the covered wagon recognized by Guinness as the world's largest.

The benches were made by Hickey and donated to the tourist site in the name of the Logan County Mounted Police.

The two benches were made by splitting an oak tree Hickey cut from his yard.

They have been placed at the head of the wagon so visitors may sit a spell when they stop in.

The wooden pegs in the crossbars were originally used to secure roof joists in an 1800s barn Hickey tore down

The plaques on each seat recognize the benches as being donated by the Logan County Mounted Police.

The covered wagon is recognized as a Route 66 Roadside Attraction.

Youngsters headed to Eaton Fields for a football game check out the wagon and read the info on the roadside sign.

Mayor Keith Snyder visits with the boys and their dad.

Members of the mounted police with their horse pose with Hickey for a keepsake photo of the event.
