Authorities release information regarding weekend tragedies

[September 17, 2012]  The Lincoln chief of police, Ken Greenslate, and the Logan County coroner released information Monday concerning the tragic events of Friday night and Saturday morning.

According to Coroner Bob Thomas, the name of the deceased male involved in the vehicle-versus-motorcycle accident on Friday night is Hans Juergen Braul Jr.

The driver of the pickup truck involved in that accident was Michael Foster of Lincoln. Foster is also the person involved in the incident Saturday morning when police were notified of a possible suicidal person barricaded in his home. Foster was later found deceased in his home.

No information has been released regarding the female passenger on the motorcycle.

On September 14th at approximately 8:24PM, Lincoln Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pick-up truck and a motorcycle. The crash occurred on Route 121 near the intersection at Lincoln Parkway.

Responding agencies included the Lincoln Fire Department, Lincoln Rural Fire
Department, Logan County Sheriff Department, Logan County Paramedic Association, Logan County Coroner, and the Illinois State Police.

The Illinois State Police conducted the crash investigation. Please refer to the Illinois State Police crash report for more details.

On September 15th at 8:03AM, Lincoln Police were notified of a barricaded suicidal male subject at a residence in the 100 block of Portland Place. The Lincoln Police arrived and evacuated neighboring residents and set up a perimeter.

Responding agencies included the Lincoln Fire Department, Logan County Sheriff
Department, Logan County Paramedic Association, Logan County EMA, Red Cross, Logan County Coroner, and the Illinois State Police.

The Illinois State Police responded with their SWAT, negotiators, CSI, and investigators.

The Illinois State Police attempted to establish negotiations with the person inside the residence. After being unable to make any contact with the barricaded subject, the Illinois State Police Tactical Response Team made entry into the residence and discovered a male subject who was deceased. It appeared that death was caused by a self inflicted gunshot. The deceased subject was involved in the vehicle crash described
above.

The Illinois State Police and the Logan County Coroner conducted the death
investigation.
