WLB baseball at Springfield Christian Regional

[September 18, 2012]  SPRINGFIELD -- The West Lincoln-Broadwell baseball team played in the Springfield Christian Regional versus No. 3-seeded Springfield Christian.

Score: Springfield Christian 7, WLB 1

WLB hitting:

  • Kaden Froebe: 3 for 3, HBP

  • Preston Ebelherr: single

  • Jake Konczyk: single

  • Casey Mollohan; run, HBP

  • Will Tiffany: single, 2 BB

Pitching:

  • Ebelherr, loss: 7 IP, 8H, 7R, 3ER, 10K, 3BB

The game was tied 1-1 heading into the top of the fifth inning when Springfield Christian scored four runs on a couple of miscues.

In the bottom of the fifth, WLB put runners on first and second with nobody out, but Springfield Christian went to the bullpen and retired the next three hitters to end the threat. WLB left the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth but failed to score. All in all, WLB left nine runners on base.

"It just wasn't in the cards for us today. We just couldn't come up with that big hit we've been getting throughout the regular season," said WLB coach Jeff Nelson. "We had our opportunities, and even with the score 5-1 late in the game, our boys never gave up. They went down with a little fight. We just came up short. Springfield Christian is a very good team and are very well coached. It will be a very interesting championship game on Monday."
