The game was tied 1-1 heading into the top of the fifth inning
when Springfield Christian scored four runs on a couple of miscues.
In the bottom of the fifth, WLB put runners on first and second
with nobody out, but Springfield Christian went to the bullpen and
retired the next three hitters to end the threat. WLB left the bases
loaded in the bottom of the sixth but failed to score. All in all,
WLB left nine runners on base.

"It just wasn't in the cards for us today. We
just couldn't come up with that big hit we've been getting
throughout the regular season," said WLB coach Jeff Nelson. "We
had our opportunities, and even with the score 5-1 late in the
game, our boys never gave up. They went down with a little
fight. We just came up short. Springfield Christian is a very
good team and are very well coached. It will be a very
interesting championship game on Monday."
