Free seminar at Memorial on traumatic brain injury

[September 20, 2012]  SPRINGFIELD -- A free seminar on traumatic brain injury will be presented Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Wedeberg Conference Center at Memorial Medical Center. The event is open to the public.

There are many challenges that traumatic brain injury victims and their family members face. During a 90-minute session, "Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury," area physicians will discuss common causes, how to recognize and treat traumatic brain injuries, post-injury management and the recovery process -- inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. The event will conclude with a tour of Memorial's Independence Square for inpatient rehabilitation, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

Physicians participating in the seminar are Drs. Devin Amin and John Sutyak of SIU HealthCare and Dr. David Gelber of Springfield Clinic.

The event will conclude at 7:30 p.m.
