Friday afternoon at exactly
2:12 p.m., the skies opened up over downtown Lincoln and the rain
came falling down, and not so gently. Around the square, folks
were already gathering for the homecoming parade, and surprisingly,
outside of few donning umbrellas, not many seemed to notice. The awnings on the businesses on the north side of the square
offered shelter for many, and it seemed they were going to be there
for the homecoming parade, come rain or shine.
At exactly 2:27, three minutes before the parade
was scheduled to begin, the rain stopped. A few sprinkles
persisted now and again, but for a short while the sun even popped
through the clouds.
When the parade came through
town, a few marchers and float riders were a little
wet, but spirits were high; everyone seemed to be happy and having a
really good time. Some
might say, even Mother Nature couldn't spoil the Lincoln Homecoming
