[September 29, 2012]  The LCHS boys soccer team made things interesting for a while on senior night against Sacred Heart-Griffin. Fifteen minutes into the game, while it was still scoreless, Ryan Sloan buried an assist from Kyle Klockenga to put the Railers on top 1-0. The boys held that lead for a while, before SHG got two late goals and took a 2-1 lead into the break.

After the half, SHG continued to pressure the Railers' defense, in a contest that was extremely physical and fast-paced. With 20 minutes left in the game, SHG had a comfortable lead of 5-1 and was in the driver's seat.

But the Railer seniors would not give up so easily. First Tommy Harris scored a header off a corner kick from Colby Leith, and then Harris set Harrison Splain up for the third goal of the game. With 14 minutes remaining, the lead was 5-3 for the Cyclones. The Railers nearly made it 5-4 a few minutes later when Kyle Klockenga put in a goal, but he was ruled offsides and the goal didn't count. A late penalty kick by the Cyclones made the final score 6-3.

The Railers travel to Carlinville this weekend to participate in a tournament, and they conclude their regular season on Tuesday at Rochester.
