[April 03, 2013]  At the conclusion of a news conference hosted by the Logan County Emergency Management Agency on Monday, officials released a list of new emergency radio communication frequencies.

Over the last six years, various departments of Logan County have been working on updating their radio communications. All of the frequencies used have been narrowband, which has resulted in a new list of channels for communication. The channels were updated completely as of Jan. 1.

Fulscher said there are people who listen to scanners in their homes for weather updates and other emergency information, and he provided a list of channels for those who wish to listen. Fulscher added that civilian speaking is not allowed on these channels without a special permit.

The new channels contain a seventh digit. Older scanners may have to be tuned in at a louder volume to hear anything, while newer scanners for home use are sold with the ability to tune in to a channel with a seventh digit.
