Miller Park Zoo hosts 'Party for the Planet' event

[April 13, 2013]  BLOOMINGTON -- Miller Park Zoo will celebrate Earth Day with a "Party for the Planet" on April 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. This event is free with paid admission to the zoo.

The Party for the Planet celebration will include children's activities, talks from local gardeners and groups showcasing what community members can do to help the environment. Additionally, free bike safety checks will be available.

The zoo will also host a few recycling initiatives to help the community. There will be a furniture drive collecting couches, tables, chairs, kitchenware, beds, microwaves, TVs and linens in good repair (no appliances), as well as a clothing drive. There will also be an electronics drive collecting used and unused electronics.

Admission to Miller Park Zoo for youths ages 3-12 and seniors 60 and up is $3.95 per person, and adult admission is $5.95 per person. Admission for children under 3 is free. Parking is also free.
