Donald Sanders

[April 16, 2013]  ATLANTA -- Donald W. Sanders, 81, of Atlanta, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 11:30 p.m. at HCR Manor Care in Normal.

Atlanta – Mr. Donald W. Sanders, 81, of Atlanta, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 11:30 p.m. at HCR Manor Care in Normal.

Graveside services for Mr. Sanders will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.

Visitation will be held at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013.

Surviving Mr. Sanders are his wife, Carolyn, of Atlanta; two children: Susan (C.J.) Knuffman of Decatur and Jason (Alicia) Sanders of Atlanta; six grandchildren: Lydia, Isabella and Cyril Knuffman and Jenna, Anna and Julie Sanders; and one sister, Doris Steffens of Texas.

Donald William Sanders was born on May 26, 1931, in Lincoln, the son of William and Fern Walker Sanders. He married Carolyn Deverman in August, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She survives.

Funeral Director

Don graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1949. He was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer in the Lincoln and Atlanta area. He also sold seed corn for various companies throughout his life. He loved to plant and harvest corn. And Don also loved taking his grandkids on adventures. He was a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau and the NRA. Don enjoyed going to “the boat” and made many friends there.

Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad or Atlanta Fire Department.
