[April 26, 2013]  COMPTON, Calif. (AP) -- Rodney Allen Rippy gained recognition in 1972 as a 3-year-old pitchman for the Jack In The Box fast-food chain.

His exclamation "Too bigga eat!" launched a national catchphrase.

Rippy recently surfaced in the race for mayor of the hardscrabble Los Angeles suburb of Compton.

Although he got only 75 votes, finishing 10th among 12 candidates, his earnest campaign drew attention to him once again.

Rippy says that when his hamburger hawking days ended, he went to college and then into marketing.

He wanted to continue to act, but also wanted something to fall back on.

Rippy says he decided to run for mayor in a bid to improve Compton's image.
