Lloyd Baughman

[April 29, 2013]  MORTON -- Lloyd Kenneth Baughman, 86, of Morton, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 11:33 p.m. in Peoria.

Lloyd Kenneth Baughman of Morton, IL was born October 22, 1926 to Harry Ernest Baughman and Mable Fern Kline in Clarkton, MO. He passed away in Peoria, IL. on April 28, 2013 at 11:33 PM. Shortly after graduation from Lincoln Community High School, Lloyd served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy on June 15, 1944. He served aboard LST 612 & 657 and was honorably discharged on July 5, 1946.

Lloyd and Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Jane Schutz married on May 23, 1948. He is survived by his wife and their three children, Marsha Ann Weber Hedrick of Greencastle, IN, Kenneth Eugene Baughman (wife Karen) of Groveland, Il and Lloyd Douglas Baughman (fiancée Julie Meier) of East Peoria, IL.

Surviving grandchildren are Sarah E. Weber of Fort Wayne, IN, David P. Weber of Oldsmar, FL, Jennifer L. Baughman of Collinsville, IL, Kay Lee Wykert of Bartonville, IL and Debbie D. Wykertof Morton, IL. He has two surviving great-granddaughters, Rylee Wykert, also of Morton, IL and Jenna Weber of Oldsmar, FL.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harry Baughman and sisters Hazel Werth, Edith Johnson, Doris Davis Forehand and Ruth Yechout. Surviving siblings are one sister, June Martini Phegley of East Peoria, IL and one brother, Keith (Delores) Baughman of Lincoln, IL. Lloyd was also preceded in death by one infant grandson, Eric Lee Baughman and his son-in-law Charles Hedrick. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Directors

With the exception of working at Lincoln Garment Factory, Cutler-Hammer and PPG, Lloyd spent his career in sales working for Sunkist Pie Company, Dean Milk Company, Star Coffee Company and Manhattan Coffee Company. He ultimately finished his career, retiring in March of 1989 as Manhattan Coffee Co office manager in St. Louis, MO.

Lloyd and Libby enjoyed living on water. From Lake Mattoon in Neoga, IL to the shore of the Illinois River in East Peoria, IL, they relished visits from relatives and friends to their waterside homes. They loved beachcombing, wintering in Florida and along the east coast.

Lloyd was an avid Cardinal fan.

Visitation will be held at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home, Lincoln, IL on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be begin at 10 AM on Friday at the funeral home with Ron Otto officiating. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.

The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Legion Post 263 or a charity of the donor's choice.
