Friday morning the judge for the Department O Cakes, Candies and Snack Foods competition had her work cut out for her as she sampled dozens of entries.

The cake portion of the competition is especially important for those who hope to make it into the Cake Classic bake-off on Sunday.

At the end of the morning, not all the competitors were on hand at picture time, but those who were, were pleased to have a chance to show off their creations.

Miriam Carter stands in for her sister Elizabeth, who took top honors in the candy division with her homemade caramels.

In the snack food class, Ryan Huffer took top honors with his trail mix.

Cameron Runyon took the best of the best among the red velvet cakes.

Annie Dunbar's chiffon cake won her a spot in the Cake Classic along with Runyon.

Rebecca Crider will also be a part of the classic, recreating her prize-winning angel food cake.
