Isabelle Thompson wins American Legion essay contest

[August 06, 2013]  Isabelle Thompson from Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln advanced to the state level in the American Legion Auxiliary essay contest.

Isabelle won first place in the Logan County contest. After winning the county contest, Isabelle's essay was next entered in the American Legion Auxiliary division contest where her essay again was awarded first place. Her essay was then submitted in the Department of Illinois contest, where she was awarded third place and a $150 prize.

The title of Isabelle's essay is "What Does the First Amendment Mean to Me?"

Marlene Schrader is the Americanism chairman for American Legion Auxiliary Unit 263.
