[August 09, 2013]  AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- LeBron James' court time Thursday had nothing to do with basketball.

James was back in his hometown for jury duty, though the Miami Heat star never had the chance to serve as a juror.

The NBA's MVP posted a photo of himself on social media Thursday morning with the caption: "Jury duty time. Time to serve my civic duty."

James arrived at the Summit County Courthouse around 8:20 a.m., according to the Akron Beacon Journal (http://apne.ws/1cyJaQy). But he was sent home along with the rest of the jury pool about 9:30 after two potential criminal trials did not take place.

James read a book while waiting "quietly and appreciatively" in the office of the jury foreman, Sheriff's Lt. Kandy Fatheree told the newspaper.
