[August 13, 2013]  NEW YORK (AP) --  Neill Blomkamp's science-fiction thriller "Elysium" led a crowded field at the box office, topping the weekend with $29.8 million.

That was enough to best Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston's comedy "We're the Millers," the "Cars" spinoff "Planes," and the fantasy sequel "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters." But despite stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, the $115 million "Elysium" still fell short of Blomkamp's debut, 2009's Oscar-nominated "District 9."
