The 5K Up Up and Away run on Sunday morning was a great success. Runners of all levels, plus families and friends, came to support one another.

The Lincoln Park District hosted the event, and the Lake Run Club of Bloomington-Normal conducted the race. Numerous volunteers were present from both groups.

Families waited in groups to celebrate afterward, many sitting in portable chairs in the shade, others on their feet with camera in hand, waiting at the finish line, ready to capture the big moment.

A warm-up set to music with instructions got people moving.

There was a slight delay for the start as the soon-to-be-winner, Jackson Johnson, in the hot pink shirt, came strolling up from the opposite direction to join the group.
