[August 29, 2013]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Lincoln Christian University men's soccer team traveled down the road Tuesday night to take on Robert Morris University -- Springfield in both program's season openers. It turned out to be RMU's night as they routed LCU 7-0.

The first half started out rough and only got worse for LCU, as RMU (1-0) racked up five goals in the first half, playing in front of their home crowd. LCU (0-1) struggled to get off too many shots in the first half, and they were held scoreless throughout, while taking only four shots on goal in the half.

The first 30 minutes of the second half were an entirely different game, as LCU went toe-to-toe with RMU, holding them scoreless. However, LCU was unable to do any scoring of their own. In the last 15 minutes of the game, LCU gave up two more goals, capping off what was a tough night from the beginning.

LCU junior goalie Logan Arney (Effingham/Effingham High) recorded 13 saves on the night, while senior forward Craig Hoskins (Bloomington/University High) took five shots on goal.

LCU will return to action on Saturday, as they travel to Dubuque, Iowa, to take on Emmaus Bible College at 1 p.m.
