[December 13, 2013]  ATWOOD — The eighth-grade West Lincoln-Broadwell Lady Wolverines captured the sectional championship this week by defeating Mount Pulaski by a score of 34-11.

The Lady Wolverines traveled to Atwood-Hammond to compete in the sectional championship Wednesday. Even though it was a long bus ride, the Wolverines came out ready to play. They pulled out to a 12-4 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

The Lady Wolverines were led in scoring by Kaelyn Froebe with 11 points, Kennedy Lolling with seven and Morgan Lolling with five. Ali Wilson was a beast on the boards as she grabbed 13 rebounds, and Emma Konczyk pulled down five. On the defensive side of things, Haley Hicks was able to pick off five steals as well as take two charges. Lolling and Froebe both helped by picking up three steals each.

Skylar Hayes led Mount Pulaski with six points.

With the win, the Lady Wolverines claimed back-to-back sectional championships as well as the honor of playing in the IESA 8-1A state tournament in Clinton. The Lady Wolverines will face off against Tonica at 10 a.m. Saturday.
