LCHS speakers perform well in Bloomington

[December 14, 2013]  BLOOMINGTON — The LCHS speech team continued their season at Bloomington on Dec. 7 and had 11 events break into the final rounds of competition, three of which were tournament champions.

 

Senior Matthew Langdon and sophomore Braden Tanner won the varsity division of dramatic duet acting, while sophomores Jazzy Morecraft and Carrissa Richmond won the junior varsity competition in dramatic duet acting. Sophomore Zac McCray won the junior varsity division of radio speaking.

Other varsity finalists were senior Justin Broom, fifth in dramatic interpretation; sophomore Ryan Crawley, fifth in humorous interpretation; Langdon and Madison Bishop, fourth in humorous duet acting; and McCray and Tanner, third in humorous duet acting.

Other finalists in the junior varsity divisions were senior Brad Miller, third in radio speaking; freshman Reagen Tibbs, fourth in radio speaking and fifth in extemporaneous speaking; and freshman Claire Conrady, fifth in original comedy.

"We have had a few weeks off due to Thanksgiving," said co-coach Abigail Curry, "but the team came back ready to work, and it paid off for many of them."

The team travels to Normal Community to compete on Saturday and then goes on holiday hiatus until Jan. 11, when they will host their own tourney in Lincoln.
