As we enter into the season of
Advent, I reflect on the past year and all the things that have
happened in my life, just as I am sure some of you do. I anxiously
await Christmas Eve as I prepare for the coming of Christ Jesus, who
came to save us all.

God had this planned, and He prepared those involved — Mary, Joseph,
Zechariah and Elizabeth — for the birth of this special child. God
came to Zechariah, proclaiming that he and his wife, Elizabeth, who
had been barren, would be given a child who would go before the
Messiah and proclaim his coming. God sent an angel to Mary and then
to Joseph, who both began preparing for the birth of Jesus. Both of
them knew full well that He would be an important part of what God
had planned. They knew He would be special because He was a gift
from God.
Through this Advent and Christmas season, let us all remember
that Jesus is a special gift, given from God to all of us. He came
to save us. He came to teach us about the love of God, that
never-ending love that none of us are worthy of receiving, but we
receive it freely from God anyway.

I pray that all of us are able to get through this season without
giving in to the rush and commercialism of Christmas, and remember
the real reason for this holiday is to celebrate that special gift
given to us by God: Jesus Christ, the infant meant to become the
Savior of the World, the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace.
May God bless you all through this Advent and Christmas season!
Merry Christmas and God’s blessings!
