Wilbur Leesman

[December 26, 2013]  LINCOLN — Wilbur W. Leesman, 87, of Lincoln, formerly of Hartsburg, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at 10:50 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Wilbur W. Leesman, 87, of Lincoln, formerly of Hartsburg, passed away December 23, 2013 at 10:50 PM at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL.

He was born the fourth son of Joseph and Frances (Klockenga) Leesman on October 11, 1926 in Hartsburg, IL. He attended Hartsburg schools and left his Senior year to join the US Army where he served in Europe during WWII. Upon returning from the service he helped on the family farm and had been employed by PPG in Lincoln for a short time. He then worked at Hartsburg Grain Company, retiring from LDC in 1992.

Mr. Leesman was married to the former Lila Taylor of South Pekin, IL. They celebrated their 62nd year of marriage on December 13, 2013. She survives. They lived in Hartsburg until 2006 when they moved to Lincoln.

Funeral Directors

Surviving are his wife Lila Leesman of Lincoln; daughter Cheryl (Dan) Lemme of Lincoln; 2 sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Duane Leesman, his brother and sister in law Raymond and Christine Leesman of Hartsburg, his brother Marvin Leesman of Lincoln, and his brother Lawrence Leesman of Hartsburg.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg at 11:00 AM with Pastor Lisa Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Humane Society of Logan County, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital or to St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kasa and Dr. Wahab and their staff as well as the nurses and staff of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for the excellent care received.
