Tipton welcomes everyone to the second annual Centenarian Luncheon.

Eads stands with Parr, who is prepared to serve up the first plate. The menu consisted of potato soup, chicken salad on croissant, chips, and of course, cake and ice cream.

Eads offers a few words of welcome before lunch is served.

Anna Strampp was born in the Atlanta area. She said she spent her life on the farm feeding the chickens and hogs and milking the cows. When she was asked what keeps her young at heart, she said it was all those years of milking cows.

Lavara Moore was born in Atlanta but lived a lot of her life in Lincoln. She was a teacher for 73 years. Her first school was Jefferson, but she also taught at Central and others. She said she taught all grades in her career, but perhaps her favorite was third grade. She also noted that in all her years of teaching, she never spanked a child.

Marie Kurtz said her secret to longevity was behaving herself, but her sons didn't quite agree. They thought perhaps she had her moments as a youngster. Marie is from Lincoln and shared that at 16 years of age, her first job was as a popcorn girl at the Maple Club.
