The Lincoln Christian University
women's basketball team hosted Grace Bible College on Saturday afternoon
at the Laughlin Center on LCU's campus. The game was close throughout,
with both teams playing great defense, but LCU (8-10) failed to get
going on the offensive end, allowing GBC (12-12) to pull out with the
win 53-44.

LCU struggled to score throughout Saturday's game as Grace came out
from the beginning in a triangle-and-two defense. They face-guarded
LCU's high-scoring duo of Tatiana Colclasure (Effingham, Effingham
High) and Moriah Kirkpatrick (Mount Vernon, Mount Vernon Township)
during the entire game. GBC was able to hold LCU to 17-of-60
shooting from the floor, or 28 percent, one of the lowest shooting
percentages LCU has had thus far this season. GBC's tough defense
forced LCU into making 23 turnovers on the game, compared with GBC's
18 turnovers. LCU held GBC to 31 percent shooting from the floor,
but GBC was able to make up for that at the free-throw line, where
they went 13-18.
Kirkpatrick led LCU in scoring but was held to 12 points on
5-of-10 shooting. She also grabbed nine rebounds. Colclasure chipped
in with 11 points on 3-of-11 shooting from the floor. Sophomore
forward Alicia Carson (Gobles, Mich., Bloomingdale High) had a big
game on the boards as she grabbed 15 rebounds. However, Carson was
held to only four points on 1-of-7 shooting.
For GBC, freshman Amy Leszinske (Ravenna, Mich., Ravenna High)
led all scorers with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Freshman Anna
Iwaniw (Kent City, Mich., Kent City High) chipped in with nine
points on 4-of-13 shooting and also grabbed 14 rebounds.

LCU would not have too much time off as they were scheduled
to return to the court on Monday, traveling to Moberly, Mo., to
take on the Saints of Central Christian College of the Bible
(15-9) for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
