Sirup for Scouts!

[February 09, 2013]  McLEAN -- Attention, Boy and Girl Scout leaders! Your troop is invited to Sugar Grove Nature Center to join the maple sirup fun. At a program offered Feb. 23, Scouts will learn how sap from the maple tree becomes sirup (traditional spelling used at Funks Grove), and take part in the process from tree tapping to tasting. There is a choice of two sessions: 9:30 a.m.-noon or 1-3:30 p.m.

When registering, be sure to gather participant numbers for your entire troop so that no one is left out of this experience. Note: In order to accommodate as many Scouts as possible, the nature center asks that the number of adults in attendance be no more than one adult per five Scouts, and no siblings, please. For those who would like to attend as a family, consider the Maple Sirup Experience Tours on March 2.

The fee is $7 per Scout and $2 for leaders. Registration and prepayment are required. Forms are available at www.sugargrovenaturecenter.org/maplesirup.html  and by request at register@sugargrovenaturecenter.org or 309-874-2174.
