[February 18, 2013]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Lincoln College men's basketball team traveled to Springfield on Saturday to take on Lincoln Land Community College.

After a sluggish start to the game, the LC men took a 31-29 lead into halftime. Lincoln came out in the second half and started on a 10-0 run, pushing the lead to 41-29. Lincoln Land continued to battle and fought back to tie the game at the end of regulation.

In the first overtime Lincoln was led by a total team effort. Rushing out once again to an early lead, Lincoln then gave the lead back and had an uphill battle to fight with only 20 seconds left and down six points. JoVaughn Gaines knocked down a 3 to cut the lead to three. After missing the front end of a one-and-one, Aaron Simpson grabbed the rebound, rushed down the court and knocked down a 3 with six seconds left to put the game into a second overtime.

In the second overtime Gaines and fellow freshman Marzhon Bryant stepped up and took control of the game. Gaines made several early baskets and Bryant knocked down 6 of 6 free throws to finish out the game, giving the Lynx an 87-81 victory, pushing their record to 17-9 and 4-3 in conference, only one game out of second place.
