Thomas Maurer

[February 19, 2013]  LINCOLN -- Thomas E. Maurer, 69, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at 10:16 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

LINCOLN-Thomas E. Maurer, 69, of Lincoln, IL passed away at 10:16 p.m. February 17, 2013 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Tom was born on July 19, 1943, the son of Carl W. and Mary Louise Wieber Maurer. He married Janet K. Stroh, wife of 44 years, on April 22, 1968 in Lincoln. She survives in Lincoln.

Also surviving Tom is a sister: June (Carl) Sank of Fort Wayne, IN and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Donald Maurer; one niece and one nephew.

Funeral Director

Tom worked for the Lincoln Police Department for 29 years. He was then Sergeant Detective and retired as Assistant Chief. He served in the US Air Force from 1962-1966. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Tom loved his wife, his dogs, Chicago Bears and golfing.

Services for Tom will be Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln with Rev. David Ramirez officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln or the American Heart Association.
