[January 02, 2013]  Due to the death of Alderman Orville "Buzz" Busby, the city of Lincoln has a vacancy in the office of alderman for the current Ward 4. Lincoln Mayor Keith Snyder has requested that anyone interested in filling the vacancy should submit credentials to him no later than noon on Thursday, Jan. 3. The materials submitted should include a letter of interest in the position and a resume outlining the candidate's experience and background.

Interested applicants must be registered voters in and legal residents of the current Ward 4. That ward is roughly bounded by Union Street to the west, Keokuk Street to the north, the city's easternmost boundary to the east and the former Illinois Central Railroad right of way to the south. A map of the current Ward 4 is available in the Lincoln city clerk's office.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit electronic copies of their materials to Snyder via email to mayor@cityoflincoln-il.gov. If applicants only have hard copies of their materials, those may be submitted to the mayor's office in City Hall.

Under Lincoln city ordinances, the mayor has the authority to fill by appointment, and with the advice and consent of the city council, any vacancy in an office of alderman. The appointment to this Ward 4 vacancy will be for the remainder of Alderman Busby's term, thus, through April 30.
