Council sets 2013 meeting schedule

[January 04, 2013]  The Lincoln City Council has set its meeting dates for the calendar year 2013. Typically the council meets on the first and third Mondays of the month for voting sessions and on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month for committee of the whole workshops.

There are a few exceptions to this. If the first day of the month falls on Tuesday, then the Tuesday schedule is changed to meet on the third and fifth Tuesdays.

In addition, if there are five Mondays in a month, there is no meeting in the fifth week.

This year there will be a few deviations from the normal schedule. There will be a voting session on Tuesday, Jan. 22, because Jan. 21 is a holiday. There will be a workshop session on Wednesday, Feb. 13, because Feb. 12 is a holiday, and there will be a voting session on Tuesday, Feb. 19, because Feb. 18 is a holiday. Finally, there will be a voting session on Tuesday, Sept. 3, because Sept. 2 is a holiday.

Typically all meetings begin at 7 p.m. This year there will be a couple of exceptions. Due to the dates being election dates, workshop meetings scheduled for Feb. 26 and April 9 will begin one hour early at 6 p.m.

Budget meeting dates for this year have been set for March 2 and March 16. The meetings will commence at 8 a.m. and wrap up around noon.

Other city-related meetings include the Civil Service Commission, which meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m., and the Police and Fire Commission, which meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:15 p.m.
