1st baby of the new year

[January 08, 2013]  Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2013 on Jan. 2 at 3:34 p.m. Roman Emery Dea is the son of Katherine Dea. Roman weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long at birth.

Katherine's physician is Don Sielaff, M.D., a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology with Springfield Clinic Lincoln. Roman is being welcomed home by big brother Lucas, 5, and big sister Isabella, 4. The family is from Lincoln.

"I was surprised that on Jan. 2nd Roman was still the first baby of 2013," mom Katherine said.

Roman was the recipient of several gifts as the first baby of the new year. The ALMH Auxiliary presented Roman and his family with a basket of baby care items. He also received a quilt made by Friendship Manor residents and a crocheted outfit from ALMH volunteer Ruby Blickerman. ALMH also presented Roman and his family with diapers and a gift card for baby necessities.

ALMH's Family Maternity Suites is a state-of-the-art obstetrical center that features spacious private labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum rooms with private restrooms and showers. In 2012, there were 214 babies born at ALMH, 103 males and 111 females.

ALMH is a 25-bed critical-access hospital located at 200 Stahlhut Drive in Lincoln.
