[January 11, 2013]  ATLANTA -- Let's get moving! The Atlanta Public Library's popular "This Golden Age" series for folks over 50 continues on Tuesday with a visit from Illinois Wesleyan choreographer Jean Kerr. This event is the perfect antidote for the post-holiday blahs and a great way to start the new year right -- for both mind and body.

A professor in Wesleyan's Theatre and Dance departments, Kerr will introduce the group to the Feldenkrais Method. Developed in Germany, Feldenkrais is a special technique that increases mental awareness and creativity by focusing on the relationship between movement and thought. The method is used by actors, dancers, athletes and others to improve their performance and comfort. It is for anyone who wants to reconnect with his or her natural abilities to move, think and feel.

Whether you want to be more comfortable sitting, playing with your grandchildren or great-grandchildren, or performing favorite pastimes, the gentle Feldenkrais Method can improve your overall well-being.

The free event begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Atlanta Community House with coffee and refreshments. The program itself starts at 9.

"This Golden Age: Health and Happiness" is sponsored by the Atlanta Doctor's Office and Hopedale Medical Complex. The series offers seniors an opportunity to socialize with friends, learn new things, and keep minds and bodies active.
