The Palms' reputation backed up

[January 29, 2013]  ATLANTA -- How far would you go for great pie?

Sitting at the counter of the Palms Grill Café in Atlanta last Saturday was a gentleman who had traveled all the way from Des Moines to check out the Palms Grill pies. He had heard through the grapevine that the Palms is a worthwhile destination for a pie fanatic.

The fame of the Palms pies has spread across the Midwest, and people travel from all over to try a slice. There are blue ribbons on the wall from state fair pie competitions.

While he seemed like any other traveler stopping by for a Palms sweet treat, he was in fact Steve Slack from Midwest Living magazine. Slack is a former senior editor of Midwest Living and now an occasional contributor to several publications with articles on life in the Midwest.

Slack is also serious about pies. He is a pie blogger and travels around the area sampling pies at restaurants.

Slack was not to be disappointed by this foray. After trying a forkful, Slack quizzed the waitress on what the ingredients of the crust were, and she rattled them off. He was surprised because he could not pick out the ingredients.

If you want a piece of excellent pie, then Lincoln residents need only to travel a few miles north. It's a little further for a great bite for the rest of Logan County's residents and the country.
